Henmans announces Christmas promotions
10 December 2007
Henmans is delighted to announce its round of Christmas promotions, with three associates being made up to partner and four assistant solicitors being promoted to associate.
In the professional indemnity team Philip Evans, Andrew Crocombe and Katherine Gregory join the partnership, bringing the total number of partners up to 24.
Katherine trained and worked at Herbert Smith before joining Henmans, and acts for professional indemnity insurers for a range of professionals. She has particular experience of construction work and has acted for surveyors, architects and engineers. In addition she provides advice on policy issues.
Andrew was a partner at Coles Miller before he joined Henmans in 2005, and specialises in professional negligence and other commercial litigation. He also has a construction practice based on his professional indemnity work for surveyors, architects and engineers, and has specialist expertise in marine law.
Philip is well known in the professional indemnity market and acts predominantly for insurers on a range of matters. He has particular expertise in defending solicitors’ and accountants’ claims. His clients also include commercial companies.
Duncan Crine, co-head of the team with Sarah Foster, commented, “We have been building the team for a number of years now, and have taken on a number of new recruits just in the last few months, so we look forward to a continued period of sustained growth.”
Sarah Foster added, “The team is well-known for being a second home for ex-City lawyers, and being able to handle work at a level and complexity equivalent to City firms, and we’re very happy to be able to attract and retain good people.”
Also in the professional indemnity team, Samantha Oliver and Katharine Riley are promoted to associate. Both lawyers specialise in professional indemnity work for solicitors, accountants and other professionals.
In the charities probate litigation team, Fiona Campbell-White, recently named by Chambers as ‘one to watch’, is promoted to associate. Fiona trained and worked at Nabarro Nathanson before joining Henmans in 2006, and specialises in probate litigation work for charities including complicated Inheritance Act claims. Head of team Angela Bowman said, “Fiona is very highly regarded by our charity clients, and has a well-deserved reputation for settling matters without recourse to litigation. I’m delighted that her skills have been recognised by Chambers in this way.”
In the property team Helen Ross, who specialises in high-value conveyancing, is also promoted to associate. Richard Shallard, head of the property team and senior partner commented, “The work Helen does on these high-value properties is often done for extremely demanding clients on very tight timeframes. Helen’s practice has grown significantly in the last year and we are continuing to expand the team.”
Julia Iball, managing partner, commented, “These promotions mark the end of a very exciting year for Henmans. Since our move to the Oxford Business Park in the spring of this year we have seen a real upswing in the quality of work and recruits that we attract and the move has enabled us to accelerate our growth in key areas. The partners recently voted me another two-year term as managing partner and I anticipate driving the firm to further expansion and profitability during the course of the next two years.”
