Buying and selling

We can advise on the purchase or sale of all the following.

Landed Estates

We act for some of the largest estates in southern England and Wales, advising on the usual agricultural considerations of sale or purchase such as specialist tax advice, agricultural tenancies, single payment scheme transfers, sporting rights, tenant right matters etc. We also advise in respect of manorial rights, dealings with the National Trust and English Heritage, rights of way, common rights, employment matters and dealing with the unique issues involved with the acquisition of landed estates.

Farms

We act on the purchase and sale of farms throughout the south of England and Wales. This includes specialist advice in connection with the purchase of such properties and farm businesses generally, particularly agricultural tax reliefs, agricultural tenancies, subsidy, sporting rights, tenant right issues, environmental matters and business structures generally.

Bare agricultural land

We can act on the purchase and sale of all types of agricultural land, from large areas of farmland to the purchase of smaller individual fields and paddocks. This includes advice on the particular considerations relevant to agricultural conveyancing such as SPS, water rights, fencing, environmental matters, tenancy and grazing agreements.

Woodland

We advise on the purchase and sale of woodlands, including the standard considerations in respect of any agricultural purchase, together with specialist advice in respect of the woodland grant scheme and the farm woodland premium scheme, taxation advice, advice in respect of dealings with the Forestry Authority and English Nature.

Sporting rights

We act on the purchase, sale and lease of sporting rights including shooting and fishing rights; advice under the Ground Game Acts 1880 and 1906; the acquisition of fisheries. We also act for landowners in respect of granting rights to shoot and licences for shooting and fishing generally.
